"Known round the country as Flashjack from Gundagai"

Flash Jacks is a luxury boutique hotel located in the famous, small country town of Gundagai. The hotel sits proudly above the main street of Gundagai with commanding views of the beautiful hills surrounding this pretty little town. Explore the beauty of the region or simply getaway and enjoy the peace and quiet away from your busy life.

The foundation stone was laid in 1888 and took three years to build, being completed and opened in 1891. Originally built as a convent and then serving as a school for many, many years, this old building has seen much over its time. In 2020 the folks at Kimo Estate embarked on a huge renovation of this grand old building to transform it into the gorgeous and unique boutique hotel it has become. Setting itself as the pinnacle of accommodation in Gundagai, Flash Jacks will not disappoint.

The hotel’s name comes from “Flash Jack of Gundagai,” written by legendary poet, Banjo Patterson. It’s the story of a roaming shearer who travels to famous wool-sheds across Australia. The hotel reflects this, with textures and fabrics used pay homage to the very materials that made Australia world leaders in the wool, steel and timber industries for nearly 200 years. The connections of the past have been lovingly addressed in every detail that makes this hotel honest and unique in its appeal.

Flash Jacks has 9 rooms, ranging from the traditional hotel room style, to their luxury bay window rooms which are like a small apartment. Perfect to rest either after a long drive between Melbourne and Sydney or exploring the beautiful region of the South West Slopes.

Each room features large beds, high ceilings, climate control and lots of natural light – just what you need to buckle down to work. When it’s time to escape the laptop, get out and explore the local area. Check out the Prince Alfred Bridge or Rotary Lookout, take a tour through the Old Gundagai Gaol or take a dip at Deightons Beach. There’s always plenty to do on the road to Gundagai!
